My Second Boston, Petal

My brother and I are sort of a Boston rescue home. He knows a breeder who he has bought some Bostons from. Once in a while, when one of the breeder's dogs gets ill, too old to show, or for some other reason, she calls one of us to see if we are interested in acquiring another Boston. Sometimes they are free, sometimes not. Petal was a freebie -- she had been very ill and could not be bred anymore. Her former owner had spent over $4000 at the vet to get her well, but she still wasn't quite right.

One of the requirements for getting a Boston from our breeder is to have the dog neutered or spayed. Petal's health was such that I had to wait almost a year to have this done. When I finally did, it made her a totally different dog! Before her surgery, she was really laid-back. Afterwords, she is more playful and energetic. She is more like Bostons I have known in the past.
